In June 2025, fourteen students from two courses ADM and ADT traveled on a two-week Erasmus mobility to Porto, Portugal. The students were undertaking a photography themed creative project documenting their experiences on the Erasmus mobility, under the guidance of creative expert, and Porto native, Gilberto Figueiredo.
As students we were required to selected 10- 12 images that depicted their time in Portugal which will form part of an exhibition in Ballyfermot library in the Autumn. We hope to invite and host the Portuguese ambassador to Ireland at the exhibition along with staff and students from the college.
Students were brought to several of the historical locations in Porto including the main cathedral, Luiz bridge, Port distilleries and the Botanic gardens. They undertook a Tile making course and visited the museums and galleries in this beautiful city.
Once the teachers left Porto, the students were provided with a recommended itinerary for the remainder of their stay, and they also explored the city and surroundings based on their own areas of interest. We gelled extremely well and were excellent at checking up on each other and making sure the experience was both inclusive and positive for all involved.
The final work from Porto has now been uploaded into their individual drive folders and we returned home on Sunday June 15th. A successful trip was had by all involved and the students sent very kind and appreciative messages to organisers and teachers.
