Through the Erasmus+ programme, Ballyfermot College Radio and Podcasting Students travelled with their Coordinator Bernard Evans. Students Sean Roets, Stephen Kenny and Callum Swords travelled to Alicante Spain, where they took their skills international. Broadcasting on Big FM and BR2 Pure Gold Radio on the Costa Blanca.
What does it really feel like to go live on air? For students, it meant three unforgettable weeks at the heart of a professional breakfast radio show on Big FM.
Broadcasting every morning alongside industry professionals Richie Sparks and Naughty Boy Chris, the students were thrown straight into the fast-paced world of live radio. From presenting in real time and managing live links to handling unexpected on-air moments, they developed the sharp instincts, confidence and creativity that only live broadcasting can demand.
But the experience didn’t stop there.
Supported by Emma Rose, they continued to build real-world experience on the sister station BR2 Pure Gold, where they presented their own music Radio Shows
On both stations, they handled live song requests, interacted with callers, ad-libbed seamlessly between tracks, and responded instantly to the unpredictable nature of live radio.

And this is just the beginning.
This June, the next group of radio students will take things even further, heading to Spain to work with Talk Radio Europe in Marbella, as well as contributing to live television on Good Morning Marbella.
For anyone serious about a future in broadcasting, this is more than a course — it’s your first step into the industry.

Entry Requirements
No portfolio required.
Leaving Certificate / LCVP minimum of two H5 / O1 and three O6 / H7 grades or equivalent.
QQI Level 5 award with a merit profile or BTEC National Diploma with a merit profile.
Academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).
