A Ballyfermot Road Southwest Campus Project

Erasmus Plus Workshop Brings Renowned Photographer Gilberto Figueirido to Ballyfermot College for Exclusive AI and Photography Masterclass

FET Ballyfermot Road was proud to host an exclusive photography and AI masterclass with internationally renowned photographer Gilberto Figueirido, made possible through the Erasmus+ programme. This unique opportunity, for students of Content Creation and Photography at Ballyfermot College, provided an in-depth look at Gilberto’s celebrated career and the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in photography.

Over the course of a week, students took part in hands-on sessions with Gilberto, gaining insights into his extensive portfolio and the creative techniques behind his most notable projects. A key focus of the workshop was the growing impact of generative AI on the photography industry. Gilberto explored how AI driven tools are transforming the field, sharing real world examples of how he has embraced these advancements to enhance his work and stay at the forefront of the industry.

This workshop was more than just a learning experience, it was a rare opportunity for students to work directly with a globally recognised photographer. Under Gilberto’s expert guidance, students conducted professional level photoshoots and experimented with generative AI features, applying cutting edge techniques to their creative work. Throughout the sessions, he provided one on one support, ensuring students could develop practical skills in a dynamic and interactive setting.

Students worked with instruments created by their colleagues studying Traditional Music in Ballyfermot college to showcase their craft through the course of the workshop.

This Erasmus Plus funded initiative highlights BCFE’s commitment to delivering industry leading education that prepares students for the future of photography, content creation, and emerging technologies. By securing exclusive opportunities like this, BCFE continues to establish itself as a leading institution for creative media education in Ireland.

Students who participated in this experience are currently studying Photography and Content Creation. More information about the course is available here.  Course Coordinator Aisling O’ Rourke can be contacted on aisling.orourke@bcfe.cdetb.ie
