As part of the Erasmus+ programme, students from the Radio, Podcasting & Presenting Media Course at FET Ballyfermot Campus in Dublin embarked on an exciting media journey to Spain, where they gained hands-on experience at BIG Radio Spain and BR2 Pure Gold Radio—two vibrant music and community radio stations serving English-speaking expats.
Over the course of the placement, each student had the unique opportunity to present their own live music shows, contributing directly to the stations’ daily line-ups. They also joined on-air each morning for the breakfast show, engaging listeners and building confidence in real broadcast environments.
These community stations provided students with deep insight into expat-focused broadcasting, showing how local radio fosters connection, identity, and shared culture far from home. The experience nurtured the Erasmus+ values of intercultural understanding, personal growth, and inclusion. Working in diverse teams and engaging with international audiences, the students demonstrated real progress both personally and professionally.
This Erasmus+ opportunity didn’t just boost their technical skills—it helped them develop resilience, adaptability, and teamwork, setting them apart in an ever-evolving media landscape. With their own shows streamed online and shared with global listeners, the students proved they are ready for the next step in their broadcasting careers.
